"Anticipation, which is a mortar to desire the ability to imagine it as if it's happening, to experience it as if it's happening, while nothing is happening and everything is happening at the same time"— Esther Perel
Sometimes we become so focused on the finish line that we fail to find joy in the journey. It's foolish to spoil sweet and joyful experiences because we are constantly anticipating the moment when they will end. We shouldn’t wait to be happy until we reach some future point, only to discover that happiness was already available—all the time! Life is not meant to be appreciated only in retrospect.
Yes. You know what, we all face challenges in our life that we didnt anticipate, and the most important thing is that we not face them alone. To me, if theres anything that comes out of this conversation, in the same way that a relationship cannot be nurturing if its competitive, its this: When you dont understand something, you can either default to judgment or you can default to compassion. Those take you down completely different roads.
